Condor, the German leisure carrier, which for a time traded as Thomas Cook Airlines, has new representation in London. Appointed as general sales agency (GSA) is Airline Centre UK, part of the Aviareps Group AG. The British Thomas Cook Airline is owned 100% by the holiday company of the same name. Condor has the same owner except for a 10% shareholding by Lufthansa, a leftover from when the national German airline owned it in its entirety.
Condor concentrates on leisure market destinations and has scheduled services from Frankfurt and Munich to 81 international points including
39 in Europe, l7 in the Caribbean and Central America and eight in Africa. A new destination - Salvador - has just been added. In addition the airline also has 16 domestic destinations. The carrier has a fleet of 13 Airbus A320-200 aircraft, one Boeing 757-200, 13 Boeing 757-300s and nine Boeing 767-300s.
As with other former charter carriers Condor has now upgraded its cabin layout. Boeing 767 aircraft operating medium haul routes offer Condor Comfort Class with a seat pitch of 49" (124cm). In economy the pitch is 31" (79cm). Seat reservations can be made no less than 48 hours prior to departure. Through fares from Heathrow, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow are available on connecting Lufthansa flights to Condor's onward services.
Also now part of the Aviareps UK operation is TACV, the national carrier of the Cape Verde Islands. The airline operates a network of inter-island scheduled services and also has routes to Boston (USA) and Fortaleza (Brazil), both of which have large Caperdean communities. The airline offers scheduled services from the main island of Santiago and Isla do Sal to Lisbon, Las Palmas and Madrid as well as to Amsterdam, Paris and Milan. It also serves Dakar and Bissau in West Africa. The airline was formed in 1955 and today has a fleet of Boeing 757-200ER (extended range) aircraft, Boeing 737 and smaller aircraft used for inter-island services.
