LUFTHANSA passengers on European routes are promised big improvements in comfort following a seating upgrade to be implemented in the German carrier”s domestic and regional operation from this spring. Everyone gets a leather seat whether in business class or economy. All 140 aircraft in the European fleet are due to be fitted out by October. The latest generation seats, to be supplied by B/E Aerospace and Recaro, are 48cm wide, a good size. In business class legroom will be increased by up to 4cm, the centre seat will be replaced with a console providing additional storage space and working area. Thanks to a slimmer construction of the backrest they offer more space for the knees and make it easier to stretch the legs.
