MOSCOW”S state owned and somewhat decrepit Sheremetyevo airport is the subject of an outside management bid with the result of a tender process, which closed last week, due to be made public on 28 January. The four major contenders are Russian flag carrier Aeroflot, the National Reserve Bank, France's Aeroports de Paris, and Alfa Eko, the investment and trading arm of Russia's Alfa Group. Two other Russian companies are also thought to have made proposals. In the meantime privately owned rival Domodedovo (seen here), part of the East Line Group, increased traffic last year by a remarkable 43% to 9.4m passengers, closing up on the Sheremetyevo figures.
