Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has signed a multi-year agreement with British Airways and Iberia that enables the agency’s clients to avoid the airlines’ £8 GDS fee, which comes into effect on November 1.
A similar agreement has been made with other TMCs over the last two weeks. Currently, the waiver only applies to bookings made through the Amadeus GDS, but BA and Iberia say they are continuing discussions with other suppliers to extend the offer.
Brian Mogler, senior vice president of global supplier management at CWT, said: “This agreement further strengthens our long-standing partnership with BA and Iberia and highlights our mutual commitment to the concept of new distribution capabilities (NDC) to drive improved product differentiation. While we believe GDSs provide the best technology platform available for CWT to enable best-in-market user experience and operating efficiency, we will continue to monitor and assess new technologies and capabilities.”
