QANTAS no longer has British Airways as an investor. The Waterside, Heathrow-based airline has sold its stake in the Australian carried raising around ”425m which will further reduce BAs ”5.6bn debt. Speculation has mounted regarding further investment in Iberia, or the purchase of Aer Lingus, a development now probably ruled out with the Irish airline”s decision to effectively operate budget style within Europe. Qantas and BA both say that the sale with have no impact on the existing business arrangements between the two airlines, although the introduction of the Airbus A380 by QF in 2007 will clearly mark the beginning of totally distinct marketing approaches.
