British Airways will hold last-ditch talks with union members today (December 19) to avoid strike action over the Christmas period.
Cabin crew members are set to strike on Christmas Day and Boxing Day in a dispute over pay.
Unite the Union confirmed 79 per cent of the crew that took part in the ballot voted to strike on a turnout of 60 per cent.
The dispute affects staff that joined the airline from 2010 on ‘Mixed Fleet’ contracts - expected to work on both short and long haul flights – and feel they are not paid enough.
The planned walkout follows the rejection of a 2 per cent pay offer.
British Airways spokesman said: “We are pleased that Unite are willing to meet us at Acas. We remain focused on resolving this as quickly as possible for our customers."
