BRISTOW HELICOPTERS has been awarded a ground breaking contract to provide Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter services to support the offshore industry in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.
Bristow is one of the great names in British aviation, the company founded as Air Whaling Ltd in 1953 by Alan Bristow, himself a sprightly 80, but not now involved with the company which these days is part of Offshore Logistics Inc, traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
Bristow Helicopters is still based at Redhill Aerodrome, north of Gatwick.
The Super Puma Mk2 helicopter to be used on the contract is considered one of the most advanced SAR aircraft available anywhere in the world.
