BOMBARDIER sprung a surprise at the Dubai Air Show by announcing an order from Qatar Airways for a pair of Global Express long range business jets with the first due in the middle of next year and the second shortly after. Qatar already operates an executive Airbus AJC in a 36-seat layout. The new business jets will feature a three cabin 13 passenger configuration. The aircraft is said to be the quickest in its class and has a cruise speed of Mach 0.88, slightly higher than a Boeing 777 and with enough range to make Doha to London non-stop. Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker and Bombardier Business Aircraft President Peter Edwards shake on the deal.
