BOEING says that it has commitments from 12 airlines for the 7E7, besides firm orders from ANA, Air New Zealand, First Choice and Blue Panorama. One carrier that might be on the undisclosed list is British Airways. By 2010, a reasonable date considering the 7E7 is not due to enter service until 2008, the first of BA”s Boeing 767s could be ready for disposal. The medium/long range 7E7 might be an ideal replacement. At the same time the oldest of its 747s will also be reaching the point of retirement and here the highly successful looking long range Boeing 777-300 twin could be the favourite. The big twin is popular with passengers, spacious and quiet, and also a winner with airlines as they become more and more fuel cost conscious. BA is saying nothing on the Airbus A380 front.
