Bmi Regional is to launch a new route from Newcastle to Stavanger next month.
The flights to the Norwegian airport, which is a gateway for the oil and gas industries, start on May 31 and will operate once per day from Sunday to Friday.
Jochen Schnadt, Bmi’s chief commercial officer, said: “We’re excited to be adding this route into our network and with it Stavanger as our latest addition to our growing network of key business locations.
“Stavanger has a varied appeal; the city is a hub for the oil and gas industry, as well as being a former Capital of Culture with great gourmet credentials.”
Bmi’s outbound Newcastle to Stavanger flights depart on 10.45 Monday to Friday for arrival at 13.05. The return service leaves Stavanger at 15.40 to return to Newcastle at 16.00.
Flight times are different on Sundays with Newcastle departure at 13.25 for arrival in Stavanger at 15.45. The return departs Stavanger at 16.15 for arrival back at Newcastle at 16.35.
Leon McQuaid, aviation development manager director at Newcastle International, said: “We are delighted that Bmi Regional will be operating this new Stavanger service.
“Norway is an important business and trade link for the north-east as well as being a popular destination for leisure travellers.”
