BIRMINGHAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT has come up with an alternative second runway plan to that suggested by the government in its national airport consultation document. Under the BHX scheme the airport has proposed a runway 2000m long, limited to aircraft up to about 100 seat capacity and not open for night time operations. Sited on the other side of the A45, and connected by a taxiway over the road, only 41 properties would be lost as against 150.
