BERLIN”S Tempelhof Airport reprieve (see 25 October ABTN) has been put on a much firmer footing, at least until the end of 2006, following a court decision late last Friday. Moreover the judgement said that any airline could use the city centre airport regardless of its home base and whether it was established at Tempelhof or not. In other words the airport can offer itself to any airline providing it meets the operational restrictions. The decision could now allow the airport to market its potential and might ensue a further challenge to the Berlin airports authority who also control Tegel and Sch”nefeld, officially now called Brandenburg International, the German home of easyJet but seemingly light years away from its planned expansion.
