George Best Belfast City airport has announced a £15 million infrastructure investment that will include a major upgrade of its departures lounge.
Updates will include a doubling of passenger seating and airside washroom facilities, which will be fully refurbished.
Additionally, there will be in excess of a 30 per cent increase in retail space, with an expanded offering from World Duty Free and WH Smith. Food and Beverage facilities will grow by 25 per cent.
The investment will also include a revamp of the airport’s central security area and hold baggage screening facilities, as well as the purchase of a new fleet of airport fire appliances.
Belfast City airport says it expects the works to be completed by October this year, all of which will be contained in the current terminal building.
