BCD Travel is the latest firm to reach an agreement with British Airways and Iberia that will see its customers avoid the new GDS booking fee.
The airlines introduced the £8 per leg surcharge on November 1 and have been working with several TMCs to allow them to book flights without incurring a fee. A similar agreement has been made with numerous companies and so far only applies to bookings made through the Amadeus system, although BA and Iberia have said they are working to offer a similar deal on the other two GDSs.
Rose Stratford, executive VP of supplier relations and strategic sourcing at BCD Travel, commented: “We are committed to ensuring our industry moves forward and new technologies are used to improve the customer experience for travel buyers. This agreement helps do that. It ensures that airline distribution channels will continue to provide corporate travel buyers with all the benefits they currently enjoy.”
BCD Travel was number five on BBT’sTop 50 TMCs list.
