BAA, the owner of Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and four British regional airports, plans to trial common user self-service check-in kiosks at selected locations in its UK airports this summer. The new check-in kiosks would provide much improved customer service to passengers, making it easy to check in quickly, and will enable the airlines participating in the scheme to improve the efficiency of their check-in processes. Kiosks will be available to all passengers regardless of whether they are travelling in first, business or economy class and will be positioned in terminals, and possibly also car parks, to make the best use of BAA”s space constrained terminals. BAA is currently in discussions with several airlines to partner the trial.
