BRITISH AIRWAYS seems to have turned the corner in terms of profits and has come up with a figure of ”310m for the first half year. No interim dividend will be paid at this time but the airline is clearly doing better than its US rivals, although not as well as some continental airlines and carriers in the Far East. BA continues to shrink in both aircraft capacity and staffing. Cost cutting measures persist. The much hyped ”Future Size and Shape Programme” continues, the airline carrying 10.6m passengers, 6.2% less than the same period last year.
