BRITISH AIRWAYS is recruiting pilots, but not by the traditional ”ab initio” sponsored path which was dropped several years back. Faced with the need to replace 148 captains due to reach their compulsory retirement age (55) before April 2005 the airline is going out into the market place seeking experienced flight deck personnel considering a change of airline. However the new recruits will all join at first officer level, promotions from within replacing those in the left hand seat.
