AURIGNY, the loss making Channel Islands based airline actually owned by the States of Guernsey is to remain nationalised. Following calls for the airline to return to the private sector, The States (the island”s governing council) put the airline on the market in December. According to the Guernsey Treasurer”s department 20 responses were received but none offered sufficient value or security. The airline was originally purchased by Guernsey in summer 2003 due to worries that if Aurigny were to fail the island could lose its key link into Gatwick having already lost access to Heathrow.
