JERSEY”S new twice-daily service from Stansted by Air Atlantique offspring Atlantic Express has been confirmed as starting on Saturday 28 May. Initially an ATR 42 will be used for the service but this is expected to be upgraded to an ATR 72 for the peak summer months. Atlantic Express says that it expects to be the first airline in the world to go self check-in from day one. ”We don”t plan to have a normal check-in facility at all,” said a spokesman. ”That is the way the industry is going.” Seat allocation will be on-line. Atlantic Express sees connections at Stansted as vital for the operation, the northeast London airport which now handles 30 airlines serving around 150 destinations. With a morning and evening operation from Jersey to Stansted the airline is thought to be considering a midday use of the aircraft.
