ATLANTIC AIRLINES, the Coventry International Airport based cargo airline, has been purchased by its management from its founding owner the Air Atlantique Group. Backing has been obtained from the Royal Bank of Scotland. Tony Auld, a 25-year industry veteran will continue as chief executive officer with Russell Ladkin, a former pilot, as managing director. Established in 1994 Atlantic Airlines operates and owns a fleet of eight Lockheed Electra specialist turboprop freighters, a pair of Tupolev 204 Rolls-Royce powered jet cargo aircraft and a single Antonov 72 ramp loading utility aircraft. The company specialises in supplying night time lift to integrators and ad hoc cargo capacity to a whole variety of industrial companies including the motor industry, oil support firms, racehorse owners and construction groups. The company is presently evaluating a number of options for further aircraft expansion.
