SECURITY issues concerning airlines and airports are to be tackled by a formal consultation body created by the most important representative players in the industry. The Airports Council International (ACI) Europe; Association of European Airlines (AEA); European Cockpit Association (ECA); European Regions Airline Association (ERA); International Air Carrier Association (IACA) and International Air Transport Association (IATA), have grouped to put their views and advise the European Commission (EC) and EU state governments on security issues. This coming together of the major players in air transport is in response to the current revision of the EU regulatory framework in civil aviation security and the adoption of a legislative proposal by the European Commission (COM(2005)429). A policy document can be seen on the ERA website.
