Asiana Airlines is set to introduce a new Economy Smartium seat when it debuts its first Airbus A350 aircraft in May.
The Korean carrier describes the Economy Smartium cabin as “an upgraded economy class section with extra legroom and some special services”.
The new A350s will include 36 Smartium seats offering a seat pitch of 36 inches, which will be three to four inches more than its regular economy seats.
Passengers booking these seats will receive priority boarding, access to the Asiana Business Class Lounge at Incheon International airport and inflight amenities. Although lounge access and amenities will only be available for long-haul passengers.
Asiana will be launching the Economy Smartium on its daily A350 Seoul-Osaka flights and six-times-weekly Manila flights from May 15.
These will be followed by San Francisco in August and Heathrow in the last quarter of 2017. Inflight wifi and smartphone roaming services will also be available.
