AMERICAN AIRLINES hopes to cash in on the booming US holiday market (assuming the passengers can actually de-plane in the USA ” see COMMENT above) by launching a summer only service between Manchester Airport and Boston Logan International. This is the first time the two cities have been linked by non-stop operations. Boston is the most popular US destination not currently served with direct flights from Manchester, with passengers instead flying on indirect routes via other US or European cities. Flights begin on 15 May and will run until 31 October this year and will be operated by Boeing 757 aircraft offering an all-economy class service with 188 seats. American, which has operated from Manchester since 1986, has a daily rotation to Chicago's O'Hare Airport with two-class Boeing 767-300 equipment. In another move AA is to transfer its Gatwick operation from the main terminal to the North operation predominated by oneworld partner BA. Atlantic flies to Dallas/Fort Worth and Raleigh/Durham from LGW.
