American Airlines is to offer “bundles” of ancillary products such as checked bags and seat allocation through its latest NDC connections.
The US carrier is making these add-ons available through a direct connection between its systems and TMC corporate booking platforms – American says these bundles can also be “tailored” to the needs of individual corporate clients.
These developments were announced by American at its NDC Summit held in its home city of Dallas, Texas.
As part of the rollout of these services, American will pay $2 to TMCs for every segment booked through the NDC connection. This is part of an incentive programme for agencies to use this direct connection.
According to American, TMCs can participate in this programme if they have an NDC Certified Level 3 connection.
Cory Garner, vice president of sales and distribution strategy at American, said the NDC connection could also provide extra information for both TMCs and their clients such as flight changes, passenger boarding confirmation and the position of flights.
