ALPHA ONE AIRWAYS, which itself does not have an air operator”s certificate, has run into more trouble. After launch attempts at Cambridge and Southampton the airline finally took off Wednesday evening (the morning flight was cancelled due to ”technical difficulties”) with a flight from Edinburgh to the Isle of Man using a nine-seat piston engine Piper Chieftain. The airline planned to launch flights from the Isle of Man to Cardiff on 16 January and to Southampton a week later. Contrary to reports 19-year old chief executive Martin Halstead does not have a professional pilot”s licence. The airline”s web pages appear to be permanently ”under construction”.
