MALEV, the Hungarian national air carrier, last Friday moved its Gatwick - Budapest service to Stansted and at the same time turned it into a double daily operation.
The Heathrow T2 service, also double daily continues as is. With Hungary's admission to the EU now only weeks away the airline says it is in urgent need of more capacity. British tourists to Hungary are expected to increase by 50% this year.
Malev emphasises that what it offers is a full service two class operation at little more than budget airline fares. Gone are the old Soviet aircraft. It now operates one of Europe”s youngest airline fleets. And got a traditional airport welcome on the first Stansted inbound flight.
