ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS, the Japanese carrier, has finalised a deal to buy 45 Boeing 737-700 aircraft from the US manufacturer. ANA will start taking delivery of the aircraft in 2005 and will operate them on short haul domestic and regional routes. In what has been a good week for the Chicago based manufacturer it has also announced an arrangement with AirTran Airways, the former Valuejet, for up to 110 Boeing 737 and 717 aircraft. The choice of the 737 is seen as a major breakthrough as the airline sets it sights on a larger aircraft than that offered by its current fleet of Boeing 717s. http://www.ana-europe.com
