AIRBUS is set to increase production rates on its A320 family line to keep up with a recent growth in new orders for its short-haul models. Although many airlines continue to struggle, the European manufacturer's chief executive Noel Forgeard believes that the market is showing clear positive signs of improvement. As a result Airbus is expected to boost production from next year by around 20%, equating to around three extra units per calendar month, but the manufacturer has not dismissed increasing production by a larger rate. A number of recent orders means that Airbus has now sold almost all delivery slots for the Airbus A320 family forward until early 2006.
