CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS has received the first of three Airbus A340-600 it plans to use on ultra long range routes including, for the first time, non-stop destinations on the US east coast. The Cathay aircraft are configured eight passengers in first class, 60 in business and 220 economy. A Tenzing in-flight email system is fitted. Pilots are qualified to fly both the four Rolls-Royce Trent powered A340, or its similar, but only twin engined sister, the Airbus A330. Cathay already operates 20 A330 and 15 A340.
