AIR NEW ZEALAND is the latest airline to completely revamp the cabin on its long haul Boeing 747s which will now match the airline”s new Boeing 777-200ER due to arrive from September 2005. The refits will begin in the middle of next year and work on the last aircraft is expected to be completed by early 2006. The airline is to drop first class and offer premium, super economy and economy. Premium will include 6” 7” lie-flat sleeper seats, laid out in herringbone style to facilitate access and including a dining facility for two, whilst super economy offers a 38-40” seat pitch. With its very long haul routes ANZ has in recent years focussed on economy seating which stays at 34”, probably the widest offered by any major carrier.
