AIR NEW ZEALAND will start flying to its 21st international destination when it commences non-stop services between Auckland and San Francisco from 30 June. It will be the airline's first new international route in nine years and is seen as additional tourism potential for New Zealand, opening up opportunities to attract customers out of the greater North West USA. The routing from the UK offers a flying time of a little over 22 hours and ANZ emphasise the German market where there are excellent connections in place with Star Alliance partner Lufthansa. Utilising a 392-seat Boeing 747-400, services operate as evening departures from both cities with the 12-hour flight arriving around midday in San Francisco and early morning into Auckland.
