Liverpool John Lennon Airport is to gain Air Malta as a resident carrier from next May. A twice weekly (Monday and Friday) service will initially be offered to the Mediterranean island with a flight time of just over 3.5 hours. A two-class Airbus A319 will be used for the service. Air Malta already has long established daily services from Manchester, and a programme of over 40 scheduled flights a week to the island from Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted and regional airports including Bristol, Glasgow, East Midlands and Newcastle, plus Dublin. It also serves Catania (Sicily) from Gatwick.
