AIR DECCAN, long established as one of India's largest charter and helicopter operators, has moved into the budget airline field, last week introducing Airbus A320 operations from Bangalore. The airline already flies ten ATR 42 aircraft. A rapid expansion of no frills operators is expected in the sub-continent. Currently only 15m passengers travel by air in India annually, little more than the number of people who use the railways every day.
