AERO LLOYD, the independent German charter airline, grounded its 20-strong aircraft fleet last Thursday and has filed for bankruptcy after a restructuring plan was rejected by its major creditor BayernLB.
Last year the airline carried 3.5m passengers, much the same as Monarch with a 80/20 split charter/seat-only.
The airline currently operates 15 Airbus A320 series aircraft.
The future situation is not clear.
