ATR, the Toulouse-based turboprop manufacturer, can look forward to the future with much more confidence following an announcement by Indian budget carrier Air Deccan that it is to acquire 30 ATR 72s over the next five years. In December, the Bangalore-based enterprise announced it would buy 30 Airbus A320s. Since the beginning of the programme, ATR has delivered 688 aircraft (381 ATR 42 and 307 ATR 72). Current production is around 20 units annually.
