CANARY WHARF”S new Hilton Hotel will officially open on Wednesday 12
July. It is in fact across the water on South Quay, the second DLR
stop from Canary Wharf but a three minute walk to the centre of the
complex with its underground air conditioned shopping centre and Tube
access. The four-star property, a major addition to the area, has 272
rooms and features ten meeting rooms and a conference facility capable
of hosting events for up to 380 delegates. There is an executive
floor and Hilton”s ”LivingWell Express” with sauna and steam room. We
see here Matthew Purcell, the newly appointed head concierge at the
hotel who is keeping up a long line of family tradition. Rivalry will
be at its peak come opening day. Matthew”s father Chris, his cousin
and his uncles Dennis and David all work at rival London hostelries.
