SHANGRI-LA'S road show came to London last week. The luxury hotel group, which will have an actual presence on the South Bank from 2007, says that 17% of its business originates from the UK.
Its European headquarters are not far from Heathrow. The event coincided with the opening of the first Trader four star property in India, at Chennai formerly Madras.
The group announced previously that it is developing more properties in India, including Shangri-La Hotel, New Delhi, which will open mid-2005 and three new properties in Bangalore which will open between August 2007 and December 2008. Shangri-La says that negotiations are advanced for its first European properties (probably beating London) at Frankfurt and Paris, both new builds and with less than 200 rooms.
