Marriott’s lifestyle brand Moxy Hotels has debuted in Hungary with the opening of Moxy Budapest Downtown.
The hotel, developed by Forestay Group, features 281 guest rooms along with ‘lively’ public spaces such as Bar Moxy, which serves dual roles as both the reception area and lobby bar.
There’s also a rooftop bar, fitness centre and two meetings and event spaces that span a total of 85 square metres. Additional street-level restaurants are also planned, according to Marriott.
“Moxy Budapest Downtown marks an important milestone for the brand as it enters the Hungarian market,” said Sandra Schulze‑Potgieter, vice president, premium, select and midscale brands for EMEA at Marriott International. “Budapest’s creative energy, nightlife and cultural scene make it a perfect fit for Moxy Hotels, and we look forward to welcoming guests to the brand’s latest European opening.”
The property has received the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) ‘Excellent’ sustainability certification, with features such as energy-efficient building systems, solar panels and more than 80 EV charging stations.
Since launching in 2014 with the opening of Moxy Milan Malpensa Airport, the Moxy brand now encompasses 175 properties in more than 30 countries.
