LIBYA is quickly adapting to its new found place as a friend of the
west. Now under construction is the InterContinental Tripoli,
designed to provide premier accommodation for both business and leisure
travellers. It is located in the city centre along the Cornice near
the Green Square. Ready in 2008 it will offer 300 guest rooms, 26
serviced apartments along with an adjacent 120,000 sq ft retail mall.
InterContinental is also to operate the historic 1930s Al Waddan Hotel
on an unbranded basis. Next door to the InterCon, the property is
currently undergoing a renovation and is set to reopen in early 2007.
