HOLIDAY INN”S UK empire will increase, following the brand”s owner, InterContinental Hotels Group plc (IHG), signing off a new franchise agreement for up to 16 hotels in the UK owned by Queens Moat Houses. Initially, 11 of the properties will be converted to the Holiday Inn brand and two, to the Crowne Plaza brand. Significant refurbishment will take place at all of the hotels, which include popular Elstree/Borehamwood Moat House on the A1 main road to the north out of London. The Moat Houses in Glasgow and Nottingham will both become up-market Crown Plazas. With the new arrangements IHG has a total of nearly 32,000 rooms available in the UK spread over 227 properties.
