AMMAN last week suffered its first terrorist attack in recent times with the bombing of the Days Inn, Grand Hyatt and Radisson SAS hotels, all popular with the local hierarchy and both tourist and business people. 57 innocents died, plus the maniac bombers in a deed which will send further shock waves around the area including the southern Gulf mini-states, which rather like Amman, have been a quiet oasis amid squalid carnage. However Dubai and Qatar and the other Emirates are a long way from Iraq and do have more defensible borders.
