HILTON has taken over the operation of The Mount Wolseley Spa & Country Club in County Carlow, Ireland. It is Hilton International”s fifth Irish hotel and the first Hilton Worldwide Resort in the UK and Ireland to feature an 18-hole golf course and an extensive spa. Originally opened in August 1996, the four-star 143-room hotel unveiled a E22m extension in October 2004. It is located in Tullow, County Carlow, 40 miles from Dublin and is the ancestral home of Frederick York Wolseley who designed and built the first British car in Birmingham in 1895. Further facilities include the contemporary Frederick's Restaurant, the Aaron Lounge and the Vintage Bar, as well as conference facilities for up to 750 delegates and a range of function rooms suitable for meetings or events for 20 to 350 delegates. The estate also boasts 16 holiday lodges, sleeping six and eight, which will become part of the Hilton International Grand Vacations Company, currently operating four resorts in Scotland and Egypt, comprising 271 time-ownership units.
