AMERICAN EXPRESS says that following a survey of card users it found that nearly half in Europe and 65% in America say firms scrutinize employee expenses more thoroughly than a year ago.
The survey also concluded that 80% of European employees and 73% in the US are inclined to spend more freely when businesses are paying the bills.
Nothing discovered there. However, Europeans between the ages of 19 and 24 are the most concerned with being out of pocket because of business expenses and that they are particularly troubled by having to pay for business expenses before being reimbursed.
For its 2006 Card Check-Up Surveys, American Express commissioned two separate polls of employees of mid-sized and large businesses ” one poll in the UK, France and Germany and another in the US.
A total of 840 employees were questioned. According to the survey, companies are watching employees” spending more intently on both sides of the Atlantic.
Corporate scrutiny increased by 48% in Europe and 65% in the US, compared with a year ago.
