bmi are, quite rightly, are very proud that the introduction of the Airbus A330 at Heathrow has been made much more simple, and economically effective by the use of A320 flight deck crews whose conversion is very speedy. In fact the cabin crew are dual rated. However during the inaugural period some Manchester-based captains are being used. Passengers inbound to Heathrow last week were concerned to hear that ”we will be landing at Manchester in ten minutes”. A quick look at one”s ticket followed. Five minutes later and a muffled apology. Maybe Big Ben was spotted.
