AIR ATLANTIQUE, the Coventry airport based specialist airline, has put into service the first ATR 72 to specifically come onto the British register for ad hoc and charter operations. The Toulouse-built turboprop has 2 + 2 seating for up to 68 passengers. A second aircraft will arrive in April 2006. Air Atlantique already operates three of the smaller 50-seat ATR 42. The aircraft flew its first revenue service, on behalf of a well-known British airline, earlier this week. Air Atlantique”s initial ATR was registered G-IONA in honour of the Scottish island with which the company is associated. The second ATR gained G-DRFC (Doncaster Rovers Football Club). The airline”s chairman, Mike Collett, has been for many years a director of the League One club. The third is registered G-RHUM. This first ATR 72 is registered G-HERM, yet another island.
