Accorhotels has acquired Glasgow-based ResDiary, a restaurant reservation and table management platform. The hotel group's latest buy follows last week's announcement it planned to acquire 50 per cent of South Africa's Mantis Group.
ResDiary was founded in 2004, and has over staff based in six countries. It has a notable presence in the Asia Pacific region as well as in the UK, and has a footprint in 60 countries overall, seating 166 million diners a year across 8,600 venues.
The company claims its technology can optimise restaurants' food and beverage revenues, and help control operational costs.
Sebastien Bazin, chairman and chief executive at Accorhotels, said: “I am delighted to see ResDiary join the range of services of the group. Our ambition is to support ResDiary in its global expansion, consolidating its scale, and benefitting from its expertise to provide multiple attractive offers to our guests. This acquisition completes recent investments of AccorHotels in the food and beverage industry. It fully supports the group’s ambition to increase touchpoints with a fast-growing customer base.”
Mike Conyers, ResDiary co-founder and chief executive, added: "We have had a very successful relationship with Accorhotels in Asia Pacific, and all the ResDiary team is thrilled to join the group. We are looking forward to expanding our service on a more global level with AccorHotels.”
Global investment bank GCA Altium advised ResDiary on its sale to Accorhotels, with the deal the latest in a string of hospitality technology transactions led by GCA, following the sale of Guestline to The Riverside Company and the Series B and C financings for TouchBistro.
GCA has also closed transactions with acquirers including Google, Verizon, ADP and Amazon in the past 24 months.
Adrian Reed, managing director at GCA Altium, said: “ResDiary is a real UK SaaS success story. ResDiary has a differentiated proposition which resonates with its customer base, reflected in the company’s rapid global growth and outstanding SaaS metrics. It has been a pleasure working with the ResDiary team and in Accorhotels they have the ideal partner for future growth.”
