Global travel technology provider, Worldspan, has introduced a new rail booking functionality on its Worldspan Go! Desktop GDS (global distribution system).
Using a web-like booking interface, customers can now search and book rail tickets for travel in North America, Europe and Japan through graphical displays with point and click navigation, pull-down menus, interactive calendars and a route mapping tool.
Full product portfolios of Amtrak in the US, Eurostar and AccessRail in Europe are available, in addition to BritRail, Eurail, Japan Rail East, UK, German and Swedish rail services and London Airport Express tickets.
”As the latest addition to our suite of interactive desktop tools for travel agents, the new Go! Rail Booking Tool introduces many first-time, timesaving capabilities,” said Worldspan chief information officer and senior vice president, Sue Powers.
”The tool boosts productivity for agents with extensive experience in booking rail and it is extremely beneficial to novice agents who are unfamiliar with GDS formats.”
Fully integrated through the Worldspan GDS system, tickets can also be printed using standard airline ticket stock on air ticket printers and bookings are integrated to PNRs (passenger name records) that include other travel segments such as air travel, car rentals and hotels.
