Global distribution system (GDS) company, Worldspan, has reached an agreement with Worktopia, a GDS for planning and booking meetings, to integrate the latter”s platform into Worldspan”s Trip Manager XE.
Worldspan customers will now be able to shop and book small to mid-sized meetings from Worktopia”s database of more than 1,800 locations worldwide. Meeting planners can obtain instant proposals from hotels, conference centres, business centres, airport lounges and other venues through the Worktopia network.
The technology will be available via the Worldspan Go travel agency desktop, in addition to online self-booking tools, Worldspan Trip Manager XE and Trip Manager XE for Small Businesses.
”This relationship underscores Worldspan”s commitment to being a one-stop, total travel planning resource for travel agencies and corporations, offering access to leading content providers through the online travel platform,” said Worldspan V-P North America sales and worldwide travel supplier solutions, Kathy Fitzpatrick.
Worktopia CEO, John Arenas, added: ”By offering this service, Worldspan can better serve corporate meeting planners who only have hours, not days or weeks, to arrange meetings. Procurement for corporate meetings is migrating online and we are proud to be the first to offer a comprehensive, real-time solution.”
New technology has also been added to Worldspan”s web-based itinerary solution, My Trip and More, which now offers customers online check-in capabilities from participating airlines.
Worldspan subscriber clients are sent a confirmation email 24-hours before their flight, with a link to click through to online check-in. Alternatively, travellers can complete the check-in process via their personalised itinerary display on the My Trip and More website.
