London-based travel company Wexas has bought the corporate travel arm of Bath Travel.
As of today, Bath Business Travel is part of Wexas, but will continue to operate under its existing brand.
The Wexas group also owns Wexas Travel Management (which manages the travel portfolio of some 400 companies and organisatons) as well as a leisure travel business and a cruise firm.
Steve Allen, managing director of WEXAS, said the move strengthens the company’s corporate travel arm.
He said that while the travel industry is still affected by “the current cautious economic outlook”, 2011 would see “opportunities for renewal, consolidation and change within the industry”.
Stephen Bath, joint managing director of Bath Travel said the sale would allow Bath Travel to focus on its leisure business, “which has always been our primary focus”.
Wexas Travel Management currently manages a portfolio of more than 400 companies and organisations.
Formed in 1993, Bath Travel Business Travel has accounts across a range of business sectors. Its 20-strong team will continue to operate from Westbourne.
