Two major US-based TMCs Tzell Travel Group and Protravel International have agreed a deal to merge.
The two business travel agencies, which both have UK operations, account for total global sales of around $2.35 billion.
Barry Liben, CEO of Tzell’s owner Travel Leaders Group, said that the two companies would continue operating as separate brands following the merger which is subject to approval from the US competition authorities.
Protravel has offices in London and Glasgow while Tzell’s UK operation is also based in London.
Liben said: “Through the years, we have encountered many travel companies, but few formidable competitors have ever captured our admiration and respect to the extent that Protravel International has.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to now join forces with such an exceptionally well-operated company.”
Protravel founder Priscilla Alexander added: "Together we now have 72 branches that extend to most major markets across the country and in the United Kingdom."
